THE CITY OF PHILADLEPHIA AND OXFORD VALLEY DENTAL EXCELELENCE WORK TOGETHER TO EDUCATE PATIENTS ABOUT DISADVANTAGES OF DENTAL AMALGAM

Langhorne Cosmetic Dentists Father and Son Drs. Nalin and Arpan Patel Have Been Offering Amalgam Free Modern Dentistry in the Philadelphia Area for Over 15 Years and Now New Regulations Suggest Modern Alternatives Should be Considered.

June 22 2009, -Langhorne, PA - New regulations adopted by the city of Philadelphia in March of 2009 mandate that each dentist practicing in Philadelphia, who use dental amalgam which contains mercury must provide, at least one time, to each patient an informational packet disclosing the pros and cons of amalgam and alternatives.

Are Amalgam Dental Fillings Hazardous?

Dental Amalgam is the silver-colored material used to fill (restore) teeth that have cavities. Amalgam is made up of 50 percent mercury and there is currently ongoing research and discussion about the health effects of mercury in amalgam fillings. Small amounts of mercury are released as vapor (gas) when amalgam fillings are placed or removed and through chewing. Research suggests that high levels of mercury can cause toxic effects on the brain nervous system, and kidneys. Generally, people with amalgam fillings have higher levels of mercury in their body, however these levels are not high enough to be considered toxic.

Cosmetic Dentistry with Porcelain Fillings & Crowns in Langhorne

At Oxford Valley Dental Excellence, Amalgam (Mercury) free dentistry is no new initiative and it has been standard patient care for over 15 years. Drs. Nalin & Apan Patel are trusted father and son dentists in the Philadelphia area who only offer modern and natural alternatives. Risen and Porcelain fillings are the most popular and besides the mercury free advantage they offer patients environmentally safe, cosmetically attractive look, and a more natural since the fillings are tooth-colored and are non metal.

"We find that mercury fillings were never an acceptable or healthy solution to fillings. This is why we only offer modern alternatives. When our patients experience the modern difference they leave with a positive, natural look and feel. This makes our job as a healthcare provider much more enjoyable. We know and we make sure our patients know they have a safer and aesthetically superior filling." - Dr. Nalin Patel.
